Phone keys
|
Functionality and example
On the good old mobile phone, the predecessor of smartphones, the number keys two to nine are also occupied with the letters A to Z. On the one hand you can write text messages (SMS) with these mobiles (as the result of three-time pressing 2 the letter "C" is displayed).
On the other hand, it is possible to dial numbers commonly known as vanity numbers, which are a sequence of character (e.g. a company name). Here the digit is dialed which belongs to the character. Entering TEST thus leads to a sequence of digits 8378. These easy-to-remember telephone numbers are often issued by companies as service numbers
For some multi caches it is required to convert words into numbers to obtain values for a formula.
Operation
Input
- Determine telephone number from a text,
for example: GEOCACHING = 4362224464
- Convert pressed keys to their letter value (vanity code), Attention: Always use a space between letters.
Example: 4 33 666 222 2 222 44 33 00 4444 2222 = GEOCACHE+42
- Converting a text into the appropriate number of keystrokes;
e.g. GEOCACHE+42 = 4 33 666 222 2 222 44 33 00 4444 2222
